寛大なこころ
信者でもない私が引き合いにだすのもなんですが、
右のホッペを打たれたら
左のホッペも差し出しなさい、
コートを奪いとろうとするものがおれば
シャツをも脱ぎ与えよ
とはイエスの言葉だとおもう。
その言葉を、素直に、字義通りに解釈して実践しているのが
今回の事件におけるアーミッシュの村人たちだ といえそうだ、
彼らは村の学校で女生徒10人を人質にとり
5人を射殺し5人に重軽傷を負わせた犯人を憎むでなく
その葬儀に参列し、その罪を赦し 死を弔った。
